We had a wonderful puppy dumped in our yard 4 weeks ago - the vet and myself, from pictures, saw Bernese Mountain in him - but at almost 12 weeks (approximately according to vet estimate) he only weighs 13 pounds. His face doesn't have normal Bernese markings, his tail has white tip and he's built wide and has wide legs, fluffy puppy hair and looks like a bear cub. Some people that own Berners say he looks a lot like one - others say Australian Shepherd - but although I see some similarities I keep seeing more Berner - except for the size. Pictures are available here - both at 7 1/2 weeks and at 11 weeks - http://www.alexisbaranekart.com/samson.html - perhaps he is a cross between the two breeds. I don't really care what he is - we love him - but would like to know for health reasons.
I would say yes, he is an aussie with a tail. Most are born with them, and they are docked. Most also have the white tip. He also has the wrong red marking for a berner. he looks just like my mini aussie puppies.
