Hi I am new to this Forum....but I have a 2 year old blue nose brindle american pitbull terrier. He has been having skin issues for about a year on and off again...First time he got it the whole right side of his face was red, scabby, itchy and a little swollen. Also he got hives and his neck was red. We took him to the vet and the vet did scrapes of his skin but found nothing on either one....so we switched his food thinking it was food allergies. Will the problems went away! But his food was way to expensive, so we switched him to something else...went a couple months with no problems. Then recently had to switch him off the food he was on (blue wilderness) because he was SUPER skinny (not normal for his size). He is currently on Pedigree and the problems came back...
ONLY on one side of his face by his mouth is red and itchy and around his eyes is watery red and has buggers, his ears are itchy red and has weird flaky stuff on the tips also little bumps too...red necks, red between his toes, and red hives under his arms. Switched his food to Wellness but the problem did not go away this time.
Any suggestions on what it could be? I am trying to keep him away from grass, and pollen (giving him a bath tomorrow to see if that helps). oh and what food would be good for him to be on? (currently looking for a new food, pedigree sucks!)
you should take him to the vet a.s.a.p. My dog has red spots and they looked swollen and flaky. It turned out to be mange. The vet put her on ivermectin injections and gave her an antibiotic. Its always best to have him looked at by a vet just to be safe.
