I did not adopt him from a verified breeder. The lady I adopted him from insisted that he is a pure bred min pin and that the white hair on his chest and close to his nails was from his mother who was supposedly a tan female min pin.
Is he a chihuahua/min pin mix? I honestly do not care as he is still the cutest thing ever, I just want to know for personal reference. Picture: http://tinypic.com/r/au85cw/5
His tail has been docked very short. It is almost as if there is no tail at all anymore. Should I be worried?
And last but not least, I believe he had his ears cropped. Sometimes they get stuck backwards. Will this always happen?
I love him to death, I just want to get to know my pet a little better.
Welcome to the Min Pins! They are an awesome lil breed! I have raised and shown them for over 20 years, and been involved in dogs and showing for 41 years! At first look, he appears to be purebred. I would need full body pictures to say for sure.
A short docked tail is fine and will not cause him issues. His ears are natural and have NOT been cropped. Yes, they will always get flopped backwards at times, but they will shake their head and the ears go right back. Haooens to cropped and uncropped dogs.
White hairs on the chest does occur at times, though not desired. White hair on his toes though, is not normal for a purebred min pin, that is why i would like a full body pic to see for sure.
Hope you are enjoying him, they are little characters and very smart!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It is about learning to dance in the rain.
