Hi, I'm Daniel. I just got a full blooded American Bulldog. She's perfect, but I have some behavioral questions. I have been reading for the past 2 weeks about dogs/puppies and thought I had a good start but now my little girl is throwing me for a loop.
She just turned 8 weeks today. I have had her since she turned 7 weeks old. By day 4 she would sit at the door to go out, let me walk through first and walk on her leash PERFECTLY. I took her on short daily walks and she has been great. About 3 days ago it all changed. It started in the middle of one of our walks another dog started barking at us and it didn't phase her she just stood and watched them walk by, as soon as we started our walk again she started crying and acting strange. I have read that comforting a puppy that is upset will only intensify her insecure feelings so I told her it would be ok in a normal speaking voice but she still was yelping and whining. I knelt down to get close to her and she was doing all she could to get in my lap. Every since then she will not go for walks. She still sits at the front door but after she goes out and does her business she goes bananas. Yanking on the lead whining rolling around and everything. It's carzy. So without her daily walks she has been super cranky and misbehaiving in the house. Chewing on things she never has before, not listening to the "no" command biting hands pretty badly. She has a lot of toys but nothing keeps her attention.
I don't really know what to do, she isn't very interested in treats and since I live in an apartment it makes it hard for me to crate her because she goes ballistic. She actually got one of her canine tooths and her chin wedged I between the crate bars and was freaking out. Now I'm afraid to put her in it for fear of her getting hert. Any suggestions would be nice. I'm going to enrolle her in group training as soon as she's had all of her shots but until then I don't want her starting any bad habbits and would like her to have a grasp on basic puppy manners.
