I have an almost 2 year old English bulldog. For about a year now he has been having terrible itching problems, and no vet seems to have a solution for him(he is currently on a food trial and this is the 4th vet we have seen). To say the least he is miserable. He has always been a very easygoing/snugly and pleasant dog. Lately though, he has started to bark randomly at everything he sees out the window (even if nothing is there). He has also started to bark in mine and my husbands face, growling and challenging us to come after him, he barks and growls and even bites. This is very out of character for him but it has been a constant of late. We have been putting him in his crate when he does this or separating him in a different room in order to calm him down. This works for about 5 minutes after we let him out then he goes nuts again. It is driving us crazy and we know he must be really miserable to act out like this. Does anyone have any suggestions? We are desperate to help him feel better for his sake and ours. Thank you for any help!
Continue to try and find out what is causing him to itch so much, as that could be part of problem. Make sure he is getting enough activity during the day, walks and such. Is he neutered? At 2 years old they are growing up and if they are not neutered the hormones are in full swing. Have you ever done any training with him? Bulldogs need training.
We should strive to be the kind of people our dogs think we are.
