my brothers female yorkie had a litter of pups. she had 2 and we thought she was done. We went to check on her after a bit and she had a still born pup halfway out. we birthed it and took her to the vet immediatley and she had to have emergency surgery. I now have 2 male yorkie pups 2 days old. Im looking for tips on feeding and care. i bought the canine replacement milk and am feeding them every 2hrs about 2oz. the one had a slight rattle in his lungs but that stopped. neither have had bubbles or milk from the nose. they ate fine.::: concerned <<<
Thank goodness you stepped in and helped that poor little girl....some think that birthing is easy and mother nature will step in and all will go well. Sometimes it does but more often than not....it doesn't. For puppies there is a milk replacement formula called "Esbilac" and there is a feeding guide on the container that will tell you how much to feed per ounce of puppy per day. IF the calculations are confusing, call the company, they will tell you how much per puppy per feeding and how often to feed it. With newborns there are also other concerns (cleaning, giving them their potty signals through massage, immune system concerns etc...) This is the time to call your vet and schedule an appointment for you to go visit and do some information gathering on the "dos and don'ts" of newborns.
