Hi, my husband and I recently bought a Great Dane puppy. Soon after we got him we knew we wanted another one before they got to far in age. We found a breeder, wet and picked out our puppy and a couple days later brought home our 2nd puppy. We got both puppies from different breeders. Our second puppy showed no intrest in eating. I knew the first couple days could be nerves so I let it go. After day 3 and into four I started getting very worried as he wasn't eating and losing a ton of weight. Day 5 I got him into the vet to see if we could find out what was causing him from not wanting to eat. After talking with the vet and calling the breeder I took him back down to the breeders house when I got there they tried feeding him and he ate... The only thing is they fed him chicken! I then found out that that's what he's been eating since he'd been away from his mom so now he's refusing and kind of dog food and the only way I can get him to eat anything is if its chicken. I'm worried about giving him to much protein as that's a huge concern in Great Danes, but I also don't want to starve him. Does anyone have any tricks on how to get him to start eating dog food? We never had this problem with our first Great Dane puppy. And I'm so pissed that the breeder did this. I've never heard of feeding a puppy chicken until their fully grown when people opt to put them on a raw diet.
