I have a 7 year old beagle female , she has been the most loving and precious dog I have ever owned, the only problems I have had from her is fighting with our other female dachshund who is 7 also. Well 2 nights ago I had been playing with my beagle , I had her on our bed(she normally sleeps in the bed) when I went in to give her a kiss she snapped and tore into my face like I was her worst enemy, it was so bad my top upper lip was completely split open and I have deep puncture wounds in my nose, I checked today when my last tetenus shot was 2007 so I should be good if they last 10 years, I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital but I didn't , the bleeding finally stopped,so she has slept in the bathroom the last 2 nights my wife is terrified of her as well as my two boys, I am nervous around her as well , I took her for a walk today , and I have been petting her carefully and I will not dare put my face next to hers will it always be like this ? Will she do it again? I feel like our bond and trust has been broken , she hasn't been fixed and I havnt ever bred her could that be what's going on? She has been sleeping more and has put on some weight over the winter especially in her tits , I don't know what to do I feel like maybe she depressed and maybe its my fault for moving in to fast to kiss her but then I think why did she tear into me so bad why not just a warning snap, I would appreciate any advice on this, is she sick or is she just crazy??help!!!
Hi must be very traumatic for you and the family. I have a beagle and I never had any problem with her. But whenever she slips out of her collar, she runs around the house like crazy. I used to have a dachshund, also a female and she was very aggressive considering that she's small and she's very possessive. One time, Paris, our dachshund bit my eldest son's hand. We were in a panic mode and we immediately brought him to the hospital for a shot. Since then, we were very careful when we come near Paris.
