My frenchie, Mr. Pierre, had TERRIBLE teeth, and HORRIBLE breath since we got him (we inherited him from a great ant of my husband’s that had no kids and passed away). Mr Pierre is believed to be 4-6 and though he is a great little dog, he definitely didn’t seem to be doing too well. We thought it was due to the death of our auntie, until I started noticing blood (not just a smear) a lot of blood on his dental sticks. I took him to the vet, who gave me a terrible prognosis of pulling teeth out and putting him under to clean his teeth. I scheduled the $500 procedure, but was not feeling good about it. That week I went out to find him some new chew toys and walked into a cool little store called The Paw Depot (they are tiny and you can barely find them, since they are IN a dog resort). They have a dog nutritionist (who knew that even existed!) called Giulio Ferrari. As soon as he examined Mr. Pierre and asked a few question (which by the way, the vet never asked) he concluded Mr. Pierre had pyorrhea due to pancreatitis. He changed Mr. P’s diet, gave him a few supplements ( I just remember probiotics because he’s still on them) and gave him what I consider the most miraculous supplement ever: PLAKOFF. I was so fed up by that point, and so intrigued by this diagnostic that I took him to another vet, and ran some blood tests, and to my amazement, he said Mr. P had pancreatitis. The vet explained that sometimes pancreatitis can cause periodontitis, and he was impressed that “I” had a hunch it was pancreatitis. Within two months, Mr. Pierre’s breath and teeth had changed completely! No more blood, no more stench, and all Giulio did was give him natural stuff! Has anyone used Plakoff? Anyone else been to Giulio Ferrari at the Paw Depot?
