Miniature Pinschers

Hi everyone, this is my first post here.

I have 3 dogs, one of which is an approximately 1-year-old Miniature Pinscher. His exact age is unknown, as he is a rescue (all 3 of my pups are). His name is Kato.

Just a little intro on him: We got him as a rescue pup, exact circumstances why he was at the rescue are unknown, but they told us he was a "Chiweenie." He was so small that it wasn't detectable what he truly was.

However, as he got bigger, and his legs started sprouting, he became a dead ringer for a Min Pin (and I do believe pure) in both appearance and mannerisms. He isn't the classic "Doberman" coloring, however. He's mostly black, with a tiny bit of white on his paws and chest, and has some fawn-colored accents on his undercoat.

My Min Pin has developed some bad habits that I am attempting to break, but he's a sneaky little guy and plays dumb, but then shows his true intelligence when he's being bad. I honestly knew nothing about Min Pins before we got Kato, so that's why I'm here asking for help.

#1: He loves to eat poop. Mostly, he enjoys our big dog's poop, because that dog eats a different kind of food that seems more desirable. However, he will also eat his own. I thought he may be malnourished, so I changed his food to a more expensive brand, and saw vast improvements in his weight, coat, etc. But, it hasn't stopped the poop eating. I try and clear the poop whenever possible, but my big guy goes so much, I can't keep up with it 100% of the time.

I know when he's been doing it, not only because his breath smells like a sewer, but because he approaches the door with an extremely guilty and sheepish demeanor. It's rather pitiful yet hilarious, but I'm also extremely aggravated when he does it, ESPECIALLY because he's such a "licker." After he's had his disgusting snack, I refuse to let him lick me. I always reprimand him and don't allow him to be out playing with the other dogs when he's been bad, but although he knows it's bad, he keeps doing it. Must be some good stuff, that poop.

#2: He has an attitude. I'm not kidding. He actually fakes being hurt to get out of undesirable situations. Here's one example: A few months back, I clipped his nails, and sadly got one too short, so it bled. Ever since, I've been putting off cutting his nails again, but finally mustered up the courage to do it. However, because of that one time that I got him, he absolutely FREAKED out before I could even get the clippers near him. We're talking about him yelping SO loud that my hearing went silent for a second, and he made this horrible screeching noise that sounded like I was murdering him with an axe. The problem was, I hadn't even begun cutting his nails, so I knew he was being a Drama Queen. That being said, I felt like a horrible Dog Mother. Finally, after firmly putting him in his place, I was able to clip his nails (not very short at all) and on his back legs he completely relaxed and stopped resisting.

Maybe I'll use the Dremel tool next time, just saying.
