I guess this is more a less a worry note. My dog is down with a herniated disc that paralyzed both her hind legs and tail. Her outlook did not look very good at all. She passed a "deep pain" test, but the vet was not hopeful for a recovery. He recommended emergency surgery, which I cannot afford so I opted for keeping her resting with anti-inflammatory meds. This was on a Friday morning. By Saturday and Sunday she lost all capacity to stand, the sensation to urinate and poo. Yesterday, she had the sensation to go to the bathroom and she barked that she needed to go. We went outside and it took about 10 minutes for her to figure it out, but she relieved herself. She was still not standing. I had to hold her bottom half up.
Today, I was optimistic as she was able to briefly stand and had her legs drawn in while laying upright, however tonight she is weaker.
Should I be optimistic that she will recover? This is the 4th day since she's had meds. She's been down 5 days. Have any of you had a similar experience and is the first week a tell-tale sign of the permanence of her damage?
