I am a new owner of a JRT, named Charlie. He's three and sweet as a sugar. I acquired him from a friend of the family, who could no longer care for him.
Everything is great...except when its time to walk him. He can't see me reach for my shoes; he instantly becomes frantic and hyper. He will jump (on me and/or furniture) and nip (he's already ripped one coat. I literally have to pick him up to attach the leash to his harness.
Help! I love my Charlie and I know he loves me, but walking him is my least favorite activity with him because of this behaviour.
I have the same problem with my jack molly around the same age as yours. She just wont sit still! So a friend of mine taught me a thing or two. You grab a couple of treats maybe one or two hold the treat by your face so their looking at you and tell them sit and dont given it to them until they sit and let you put it on them. THen repeat that every time you are getting ready to go for a walk and then the will regonize sit , leash , reward. hope it helps!
