W currently have a year old male chow chow which is extremely territorial (normal). We purchased a female 8 weeks old, which we have had 3 days. We are slowly introducing them to each other. The male thinks she is a chew toy and aggressively went after her. How long will the process take to get them to like each other. Lily will be the inside dog. Slick hates the indoors and is currently on a electric color. He will not allow anyone but family in the front door. We are in the process of putting up a fence to ensure his safety and non-family members.
Chows are territorial, particularly males, and take a while to warm up to new family members. I`d say keep persisting, maybe take them on leashed walks together, get them used to each other and make sure her scent is everywhere for your first dog to grow accustomed. Make sure he is heavily praised anytime he behaves with even the barest hint of decency towards her. Good luck!
Chow chow dogs are highly territorial and protective breed. Chows who are socialized and trained well can get along with other dogs but since it's the first time that you have another dog then you need to get them used to each other. I agree with Sirinova that you should take them on leashed walks so that they will be at ease.

Thank you for response, Slick , our male is starting to accept Lily a little more each day. We thank you for all the good advice. We bring Slick in the house for his normal routines and he smells Lily. We are taking it slow. Any training tips would be much appreciated.
