In the mornings I take Lilly outside to feed and water her and then tie her up to the tree for about 30 minutes while I shower. Now she is covered in tree sap (which has become dirty). How do I get this out? She is starting to look like a dalmation with all the spots. I have tried vegetable oil and peanut butter and they dont work.
No, they won't work. Getting it out is very hard, but bath the dog with soap a couple times and usually that works. If not, you can brush it out but thats pretty tricky.... just give the dog a good rubbing
try using tea tree oil. The stuff is great for just about anything. It is also good for disinfecting whereever the dogs go. For tree sap I would put some on a towel and try working it through. For disinfecting areas including dog beds and your own dilute to tea spoons to 6 oz of water in a spray bottle and go nuts. It is natural so no chem. Next time take the dog in the shower with you......
OH NO............the shower is a bad idea for my dog. She hates a bath, I leave that to the groomer I just havent had tme to get her in there and wanted to try to get it out myself. I will try the tea tree oil tho. I have some, if you can believe that. Tea tree oil is also good for many other things.....facial cleanser, athletes foot, jock itch (gross, I know), cold sores, tooth ache, ring worm (worse than jock itch), head lice (worse than all the above), yeast infections, sunburn and the list goes on. It also works as a bug repellent. It is a "MUST" in all households.
I know the stuff is great. Put a couple of drops in the rinse cycle to get rid of dust mites too. We had a lice scare last weekend we went up north and my cousins girlfriends kids had it a couple of weeks before. They were all in the same bed watching a movie together. I didn't get the lice story until after. They were also covered up with band-aids and I found out later that they also were covering up ring-worm. Needless to say I disinfected everything including my kids with tea tree oil. No lice was found i even brought them to the dr. to make sure. I'm just a little nuts especially about bugs. These kids and the mother are just nasty. Children's aid actually took the kids for three years, and one they still won't give back. They apparently have had ringworm for quite some time, I guess she doesn't bother to treat it. nice eh? My cousins ex-wife (who I am still good friends with) sends her daughter with a bottle of the stuff just to ward off anything. My cousin needs a cat-scan, I don't know what he is doing with her.
I for one dont understand how a mother can let something like that go, and then to send them to someone esle's house with other kids is simply rude and disgusting!! My kids' father lived in a trailer court a few years back and my kids came home with head lice. After treating the kids and tearing him a new butthole, I went to the trailer court and did a head check on EVERY kid who could possibly come near mine and they were not allowed to play with my kids if they refused or didnt come back "clean" I found the "guilty" party and OMG she had it so bad she had scabs on her head. I marched right to mom and had a chat about how to get rid of it in her house and her home and keep it out! I am a cosmetologist and I have a little training in this area so I was tactful when I approached mom. Needless to say for the rest of the time dad lived there I did a headcheck on all kids (and still do on occassion) The slightest little itch and watch me go......LOL I now mix tea tree oil in the shampoo and it is used about once a week just for the heck of it.
I do to. It's funny until now I thought you were a guy. I'm glad there is other moms out there as nuts as I am. If I knew the situation earlier no way would I let them stay to watch the movie. We all had motel rooms in cottage country. Even my husband was grossed out. I know lice is a common thing for kids especially in school. but if you put it in a spray bottle and spray their hair with it before going to school I heard the lice don't like it. Perhaps we can make up a couple of bottles and ask the teachers to spray all the heads.. I can see it now....
A guy, you thought I was a GUY? Was it something I said? LMAO The name is confusing to some. Let me explain. GB is a nickname a former co-worker gave me, meaning, Ghetto Booty. One Stop is the name of my salon. So now you have it GB (ghetty booty) at1stop.
sorry, I think it was because of something you may of said in another forum. Also because you mentioned the "can you believe I have the oil" I'm sorry. I'm not usually this dumb. I think waking up at dawn in the summer is making me a little stupid. The puppy wakes up so early I have to take a flashlight with me to take her out. And then if that weren't enough she wants to eat and play for a couple of hours after that and by then the kids get up and there goes my sleep.
Tea tree is fine for dogs, but it needs to be diluted. I use it to clean their ears. I would never use it on myself or my pets without diluting it first. My vet actually sells dog shampoo with tea tree oil. P.S. Shaving is NOT an option!
Sorry, I don't know what kind of dog you are talking about. I actually didn't mean shave, just maybe a short haircut, (unless you have a shorthair breed). Did you have any luck getting the sap out yet?
