Last night there was a drive-in-vasion at the drive- in theater. I brought the whole family, dog included. We had the greatest time! I thought it was going to be a horror movie festival, but this time it was a biker movie theme. There was a car show and a motorcycle show and bands. We got there at 3:30 in the afternoon and pitched a tent and spent the night there. The crowd there was exceptionally open about pit bulls.. I met NOBODY that acted funny about her being a pit bull, or about my having her and also having kids, or anything like that. Missy met a million people, all kinds, was around tons of loud noises (bands, motorcycles, fireworks)and not phased by any of it. I swear she is WONDERFUL. Never jumped on anyone, walked right beside me with no problem, even through big crowds. A kid RAN right up to her and started rough housing, unexpectedly, and she just licked him happily. When I would stop walking and talk to people, she would sit. She gave out tons of doglicks and received lots of ice water from her new friends. When she's 2, I have really got to get her some certifications, so that we can begin therapy work. If anyone has the personality just for that, it's Missy. Couldn't help but brag, I'm feeling proud of my girl, and thankful for her!
Very well behaved child. You must of been proud. No wonder you are gloating. I was just wondering this morning how it is acceptable to bring children everywhere, but not pets. The dogs are usually more well behaved then the kids. Easier to control too, especially when on a leash.
aisha- i secong, third and fourth that motion! i was thinking the exact same thing! animals are way easier to control, adn if you put a harness and leash on a kid people call CYS on you!! j/k is it a health concern? because i can understand around food (although kids with runny noses, hacking cough, etc are allowed in grocery stores...) but other than that, i don't see the big deal. ignorance on alot of people's parts.
The thing is, the very same people who do not control their children probably would not control their dog, either. If they let the kids run through Walmart's toy section taking toys out of the packages and riding the bikes in the store, whizzing past old people, while Mom is on the other side of the store shopping for groceries... they probably wouldn't give a second though to a pile of poo right on the store floor or letting the dog jump on people's panty hose. I know the poo issue is a reason that dogs are not allowed sometimes even at outdoor places. Some people don't know the value of a plastic baggie!
it could be the poop n scoop issue or perhaps it's allergies. But then again some people pour on the perfume which always makes me sick. My kids are not the most behaved kids you'll ever see but they are not allowed to run wild. I'd take them by the scruff of the neck back into the car if they ever pulled a stunt like that. But it would be great to be able to take your pets to some places. I can understand why the grocery store won't allow it. Can you imagine it now? I have seen places like wal-mart that allow dogs to be carried around in peoples arm if they are of the smaller breeds.
