If my dog has a cut or sting or surface injury, I generally go to my medicine drawer and get out some betadine or Stop Itch (for bites) etc. Do you think it is okay to use human ointments/creams/lotions etc on dogs? I don't give him medicine or anything like that...but I have put creams on him.
I use neosproine on cuts and such. I asked my vet about it and he said that is fine, he actaully recommended that! I also use bug spray to keep off the moequietos(sp) and such. Also long as it doesn't have deet ( i think thats it) you should be fine!
Deet is the chemical help prevents mosquietos(sp) from biting. It was made popular when the West Nile virus broke out. I may be wrong but that is my make on it. I know that you can buy repelents that do NOT have Deet in them.
scout- maybe we did pay for them. i was littler and just remember going to the pharmacy to get pet meds. i assumed that was why...maybe i am wrong. most of the meds at my vet are $5-$10..amoxicillin, eye drops, etc. i have been lucky not to need serious medication for my animals.
