Ok does anyone know a way to get rid of tapes worms without going to the vet? I found in Dr Foster and Smith's I can get some pills and they are about $4 each. But I didn't know if anyone knew of anything else. Any secrets out there?
Our local pet supply place sells tapewormers. I would not want to wait a week for it to come in the mail. I also took my sisters cat to the spay-neuter clinic and they gave him a wormer shot for $20. If your dog is an indoor one, I'd do it quick.
When we bought our new puppy, a week later we found out that she had tape worms. It was on a Saturday and the vet was closed. I looked on the internet and found out that there was an over the counter medicine for tape worms. It is called Tape Worm Tabs Praziquantel. I think he paid $25.00 for the bottle of five. I only had to give her a half of a pill and that took care of it. It has been a little over two weeks and we have not seen another tape worm. Please let us know how it works out.
Well, we don't have tape worms now, it would just be good if I could get some on hand just in case. I live in the country and the dogs go out in the afternoon where the horses and well tape worms are kinda the norm around here. My mother never sees her dog's poop so she worms them for tape worms every other month. Do any of you worm for them regularly?
tapes are caused by fleas altho there is another type. The only treatment for them is drontal or droncit. Drontal has droncit in it & both require a scrip. Panacur does the other kind of tapes but not the brown dog flea.
Your mother is probably using a horse wormer for the dog, which can be very dangerous if it is on HW meds especially if it is one with ivermectin in it.
