I didn't know you could shave a keeshond. Someone told me that all that fur actually acts as "insulation" from the heat, and they can get sunburnt if shaved. Is that not true? My sister has 2 keeshonds in the house, and it's incredible to see the clumps of fur they shed!
yes they say that fur acts as insulation against heat and cold but i have always shaved him and my golden mix in the summers. we do not have air conditioning in our home and i really feel that they were much more comfortable without all that fur. he has never gotten sunburnt before but i do know that many breeds, especially light/white colored dogs are prone to it. the amount of hair he and my pyr shed was incredible. though shaving him didn't cut down on his shedding per say, it did reduce the size of the tumbleweeds we had floating about our house.
