This morning my 4 year old, neutered cat backed up to me and peed on me. He had traces of blood in his urine. He has never done anything like this before. I have not noticed him having difficulty urinating or a change in his eating or drinking habits. Does anyone have an idea of what could be going on? He has acted like his usual self since.
I agree, an infection or he has crystals in his bladder causing them to scrape and make the walls bleed. He may need anti-biotics. I believe a cat with crystals need to be on wet cat food. You can ask the cat people on www.auspet.com if you like. they are great too.
my cat fox suffers from chronic urinary tract infections and has had 2 urinary blockages in the past year. the first time i notice a problem is when he starts peeing in inappropriate places. most of the time there is blood. he did have bladder stones but they have dissolved since he has been on the special food. i would have him checked for an uti and put on antibiotics. i would monitor his urinating habits on a daily basis to make sure he is peeing. it is a life threatening thing if he should be unable to urinate.
