I have a weird question for ya'll. Have you ever seen a puppy that you just thought was the cutest thing on the whole planet, but would not buy/own it because you don't particularly like the breed when it grows up? Like you don't like how big it gets, or how small it stays. Or you don't like their general temperment (you know like how labs are pretty hyper or how malamutes shed a lot, stuff like that). What type of dog have you seen that you have felt this way? For me I would have to say a pit bull or an english bulldog. I think they are both the cutest puppies out of all breeds of dogs, but I wouldn't own a bulldog because I like really active dogs and the pertruding teeth and bowlegs thing when they grow up is alittle weird to me. And for pits it's just because I don't think I have what it takes to handle and properly socialize a pit. How about ya'll?
I think Cocker spaniels are the most adorable puppies. The only Cockers I have known as adult dogs have all been a little wacko. Mean, biters and very nervous. But that's not to say they are all like that. Just the ones I've met. They are still really cute when they grow up. I just haven't been crazy about their temperments.
I would have to say toy poodles. They are cute little furball puppies...but I don't care for them when they get older. I have met a couple that I like....but most I haven't been very impressed with. I also don't think that I would ever get a lab or retriever. They are the cutest puppies...but I think they are rather over-rated. I don't hate the breed...I am just sick of them. Everyone owns a lab or a lab X. I would rather have a dog that is a little less popular and overbred.
the absolute cutest puppy in the whole world is a beagle puppy. but i would consider owning one of them so that doesn't count. i saw the absolute cutest english bulldog puppy in the mall pet store on sunday. he actually looked to me like an awesome specimen of the breed. his coat was healthy, his lower jaw didn't stick way out, no runny eyes, no snotty nose and playful as the dickens. if i had 1900.00 i would really have had to been pulled away from him. he was gorgeous !! but that doesn't count as i would probably consider owning one of those too. dogs that are cute as pie when little but i definitely would never own would be an english mastiff. i adore this breed to no end but i cannot stand drool. and they come with bucketfuls of it. i would also love to own a dogue de bordeaux but again, they drool. just look at hooch. i tolerate alot of doggie stuff but drool i just cannot get accustomed too, especially when it sticks to walls like wallpaper glue.
lol scout! That's too funny. English Mastiffs are my favorite breed :) I won't own one until I have a bigger yard though. And more time to slosh the slobber off the walls with a mop. Paige, I completely agree about the bloodhound thing. Those floppy ears and all those wrinkles...too bad they are so stubborn and that crazy nose sniffing work ethic of theirs... Thanks to everyone who's answering. I thought maybe I was weird for thinking this way. I thought everyone would go, huh? lol. Nice to know there are others that do it. My husband gives me the weirdest looks because I will see a puppy and fawn all over it, and he will ask, 'Oh, is that the breed of dog you would like to get?' and I say, 'Oh no, I would never own one those.' He looks so complexed. I have to explain I just think they're cute :o)
Any Mastiff breed is so adorable as a puppy,I hate the drool. My nieghbors Boxer was so cute as a puppy, but he drools now(yuck), I think all Retievers are just adorable as puppies, I don't like the long hair as adults.
Well, I love Pomeranians, obviousely and I love Chows those are my two favorite breeds. I would have to say I love pekinese pups but think that some of them as adults are wierd looking, Same with Pugs. I LOVE St. Bernard Puppies but the drool and size factors are stopping me from getting one. Also heeler pups are absolutely adorable but I have no way to exercise their mind the way they need. I had a border collie once and had trouble keeping her entertained.
