to cut Toby's toenails. I try when he is awake, I try when he is asleep, I try when he is relaxed and when he is just bathed. He will have nothing to do with it and squirms and carries on so much I give up. Just a minute ago he was chillin on the couch and dozing off. I quietly picked up the "monster" (toenail clippers). I slowly slid over to where he was laying on the couch, hiding the clippers. I put my hand on him and stroked him lightly. He looked up at me took both of his front paws, shoved them way down in the crack of the couch and laid his head on top of them and just looked at me with this innocent little face. LOL I am still laughing.
Awww...Wendy, my guys aren't big fans of the trimmers, either, but none have gone so far as to hide their paws, lol! A trick that may work when you're trimming-peanut butter on the roof of their mouth. My guys are so busy trying to get the pb that they don't pay attention to me. Fin
lol Wendy, he knows what you're up to! Ace does that, too. If he knows I'm in nail clipper mode he will lay down with all of his paws tucked under his body just right. =0) My advice is to bring him to PetCo and let them do it once a month...that's what I do now, sooo much easier! **Kris, Abby, Ace & Summer
Thanks for the advice guys. I have given up and will take him some where. I don't have any Petcos near me and the closest Petsmart is about an hours drive. I may have to suck it up and do a road trip. He is such a monkey. He used to let me cut them. I don't know what happened, I never hurt him.
I have never had to cut any of my dogs nails because they run around and get filed by themselves. I would have a hard time doing it too. Here is one for you: My little guy as a newborn with a bandaid on his little tiny fingers because his mom is a loser and used nail clippers on him. Guess what? he bites his nails. Gee I wonder why?
