Mr. Adley has decided that he does not care for the Purina Puppy Chow I have bought for him, and has been only eating out of the cat's dry food. Does anyone know if this is bad for him? I am honestly surprised that the cat is letting him get away with it...
Actually I think Cat food for dogs is really not good. Try another dog food. They put certain things in cat food just for cats and the same with dog food. Move the dish out of the dogs reach and he will eat his food when he is hungry enough
Cat chow is very very high in protein, which can be bad for a dog's digestive system. It can also cause urinary disfunction. Is there a place where you can put the cat food up, like on the counter or something, so the dog can't get to it?
Yes, it is bd for him in the long run. The protein content in cat food is much higher, too high for a dog. Why not switch dog food brands to something he likes better. My dog was on purina when I got her and she didn't seem to like it much. She was very thin, wasn't eating enough. I switched to Royal Canin wholistic, mixed with a dental dog food from the vet and she loves both and gained weight.
My vet said that cat food to a dog is like Ice Cream to us. He mentioned the whole protien thing. He had me move the cat food (I was cat sitting). I guess we shouldn't eat ice cream as meals everyday...sheesh...who knew.
