Hi! I am really wanting to learn more about showing dogs. I have two Boston Terriers, I read that you sometimes show Bostons and I was wondering if you could give me any tips about how to get started. At what age will i be able to tell if my pups are show quality? I am just trying to leaarn everything I can about showing dogs right now to decide if it is something I want to do in the future, and info about how I can go about learning more would be great! I would also love to hear about your dog show experiences.
Well, I love showing! It is a great hobby. People show pups as young as 6 months (that is the youngest that they can be shown). Boston Terriers are absolutely beautiful dogs, and I would love to own one. Here is the AKC standard for the Boston Terrier: http://www.akc.org/breeds/recbreeds/bostoter.cfm In color wise, when you show, the more brindle, the better. The squarer the body, the better. If the ears look too big for the head, get them cropped. I have had some good and bad show experiences, but it is all worth it. I love all breeds, and would handle any breed.
