Yea, any kind of smoke: fire smoke, cigar/ette smoke, pot smoke. They all bother non-smokers, dogs, and cats alike. I think all animals of the world except smokers are harmed by smoke in some way. ---Allie the Chihuahua http://www.dogster.com/?41063 ---Mönica the Kitty http://www.catster.com/?57596
Allie, I have to tell you, as someone who has smoked and stopped for up to two years at a shot, over the past 35 years..smoke harms EVERYONE, INCLUDING the smoker. It is NOT something I am proud of, especially since I am a very strong willed, stuborn person. The fact that something so harmful has control over me does not make me at all happy. It IS an addiciton and it IS a weakness. I don't care for the smell (can't STAND to smell cig. smoke in my home)..can smell it a mile off one someone's clothing or hair or worse yet, their breath. That would be why I end up quitting so frequently, then end up going back to it in times of stress (like now). WEAK, WEAK, WEAK.
When I did smoke I smoked outside away from my dog and daughter. And if Oscar was out with me he would sneeze anytime he got near me. Plus I didn't want my house to smell like ciggs. I have not smoked though in almost 4 months.
Congrats to you PaigeBeverly! Keep up the great work. I do try to stay away from all other living creatures (with any number of legs) and keep the toxins to myself. Once all this is over, I'll kick the habit once again.
Kittys Mom, while you may have had bad experiences with incosiderate folks, it would extend to their general attitude about putting themselves above and before everyone in every aspect of their lives. I NEVER smoked at around or near a table when we were eating, not even when we were dining out and it was "socially acceptable", nor did I smoke in stores, working retail showed me how many things are destroyed by incosiderate smokers, early on. Even in my own home, I will NOT force MY habit on others and I have never smoked in anyone else's home. The bottom line is, if someone is rude & uncaring, they are just plain rude and uncaring. It's not because they smoke. Please don't misunderstand, I am NOT defending my addiction to anyone. But it IS my addiction and I have NEVER forced it on anyone else, nor have any of my friends who are or were smokers. You might want to check out those who are forcing their nasty habit on you, and chances are, you'll find them rude and arrogant in all aspects of their life.
