Things have been going much better today. I purchased a wire crate this morning but everything has been very calm and Lady ate today. She's so cute, she thinks she's hiding if she puts her head behind something and her whole big body is sticking out. Rusty seems to be doing much better. I followed all the suggestions y'all gave me last night and I really appreciate it. Now I have to tell the funny part, then back to work. Dh has been out of town since Friday. He just called to say he was on his way home. The next thing out of his mouth wasn't how are you or the kids, but how's your new doggie? I told him what happened and that I had purchased a crate and all and he says well, it will be ok. Rusty will get used to it and I'm sure she'll be fine. He was all happy. I think he was secretly wanting her the whole time. I told my daughter what he said and she started laughing and said, scary huh? So, I have a good outlook today and seems everything is going to work out. Thanks again for all the suggestions. I was so scared last night! Have a good day! ROFL that is so good, and with her long skinny legs it suits her too. Have a good day! Rusty the Golden Retriever http://www.dogster.com/?68489 Bailey the Pug http://www.dogster.com/?68491 Ariel the Chihuahua http://www.dogster.com/?68494 Lady the Greyhound http://www.dogster.com/?78537
Gina, I just knew if you had a crate for lady it would all work out. I just have foo-foo dogs, so I was reluctant to say too much. I have said some things in the past and been told to come back when I get a real dog. I have brought newby's into my house, and putting the new guy on the block in the crate has always worked for me. I think that sends a message to the homeies that they are free and the new one isn't. na.na.na,na,na. But what they don't know is the new guy is happy just where he is. He feels safe. Then I just open the door to the crate, and let him come out if he feels the water is safe. Some come out sooner that others.
Don't ever let anybody tell you to come back when you have a real dog. All dogs are real dogs. To h*ll with that. And look, you were right! And I have a big mixture of dogs. People look at us funny when we go somewhere with a golden, chi, and pug. Wait till they see us now! LOL Anyway, thank you and I am so glad all is going well. If there is anymore trouble I can put her right in there and she is safe and happy and like you said, Rusty thinks he's the big dog because he's out. It all works out in the end. :)
IM so glad to hear things are working out! Some people go about it totally the wrong way when introducing new dogs to the family and what they don't understand is how badly just throwing a new dog into the household without proper introduction can throw off the "pack order." Way to go Gina and Lady!
Thank you Gina. I just had to do that to see what it felt like to tell myself thanks. J/K. I don't think it would have been so bad if I would have taken them across the street, but wasn't sure about her stitches. Oh well, it's done now and everyone is ok. Thank you, really. Have a good day!
