Okay here is what happened the night that Blaze died. Eveyone seems to have thier own opinion on it and what i should have done. I brought Blaze inside because he was having breathing problems. He was outside in the pen with the other puppies. When i got him in i asked my sister to look at him and she if she could tell what was wrong with him. I had wormed him the day before because he was coughing like he had worms. Jenn felt his throat and the top og his throat right below his jaw was swelled and hard like there was something caught in it. I held Blaze down and my sister stuck her fingers down his throat to see if she could reach the blockage. She couldnt since he was biting her. 3 or 4 times Blaze stopped breathing and by breathing into his nose we were able to get him breathing again. It was getting late. Usually everyone goes to bed around 7 or 8. My brother in law had to work and my sister had school. I had no money and no way to get to the vet. The only way i was able to bring him to the vet the time before was because my dad was in town. This time my dad was on the road and wouldnt be back for days. Later Blaze started losing control of his bladder and started peeing everywhere. I tried by myself to stick my hand down his throat. I was able to feel a large lump in his throat and the base of the lump was attached to the wall of his throat. A few minutes later Blaze stopped breathing and i wasnt able to get him breathing again. He died in my arms. I took him out in the yard and buried him. There was nothing else i could have done for him. Im sorry if i didnt grieve the way you thought i should have. I have several issues that i have been dealing with. Losing another puppy didnt help. Budda dies from worms, Tipsy died from worms and Tippy was stepped on. Tipsy and Budda were both wormed reguraly. We didnt catch the worms quick enough in them to save them. Tippy and her littermates were running loose on the floor. My brother in law came home and didnt know they were out. He triped over one puppy and than stepped on Tippy. It wasnt intentional. He wasnt trying to kill her. She died almost instantly. Im sorry if you dont like they way i raise my animals. I am not an animal hoarder. You guys think that a trip to the vets office will solve everything. Not everyone in the world has money. They get by on what they have and thats all i can do.
just for future reference. if you are in a dire emergency, such as your puppy not breathing you go to the vet anyway. no one is going to stand there and ask you payment information. they are going to save your dog first. you can worry about the payment info after it is saved.
It's not that we're not sympathetic to the pain you've gone through with your pups, but don't you see that if you have no money, and no access to vets, maybe you should not have so many animals? You are not doing them any good, and your sister definately should not be breeding.
I totally agree with you Lalayla. If you can barely feed yourself then you should have animals. Thats all I'm going to say. Have a nice day. Now I'm just going to grab the popcorn and watch the action. We posted at the same time. Congrats on getting a job.
Scout that's not always true. A sad story about one of my dogs. She was spayed ,but obviously not stitched correctly. She busted open,we did what we where suppose to,her insides wound up on the out side. We rushed her to the vet, before they would even look at her,now mind you she's in shock, bleeding profusely with her insides hanging out all over the place, they wanted to know how we where goung to pay,if we din't have the money we where goung to have to leave. Before they would even take her in I had to talk about payment. Some life saving vet.
rednose i am sorry you had a miserable experience. i do know that alot of places are like that. but i have yet to see a vet stop to ask for payment when someone brings in a dog that is barely breathing. maybe once the dog is stabilized ie: breathing again payment would be discussed but talking about money while someone's pet is dying would be a first. you have had some really lousy experiences with vets. i feel bad. they aren't all like that. was your dog okay ? did you take it to the same vet that did the spay?
njchmin.............Have you ever heard that the difference between telling a lie and the truth is that you have to remember a lie? That is not the way you told that story the first time. I feel bad for you, and that is the truth.
Scout it was the most terrifying scariest experience of my life. She was dying in my hubbys arms ,she was bleeding to death, all they wanted to know is do we have the money,my dog was dying. I set up a payment plan with dates ,it took some what like 30 minutes to set this up,and my poor Noey had to wait while this was being done. I did manage to get my original vet to pay for half of the bill,I feel this was their fault for not stitching her correctly.
rednosered: is the puppy okay now? That is terrible but really some vets out there see dollar signs when it comes to people in need. (not just vets) But this post and poster that we are referring to was a little off. sorry nj whatever your name is but with all due respect .....you have lost all of mine.
i am glad that she made it. i can imagine how horrifying it must have been. it is scary i have seen a few myself. you cannot always save them if infection sets in there. i am glad that wasn't the case with noey.
Yeah they closed her up and she was fine. Sadly at 14 months old my Noey had to be pts from an incureable bladder cancer, the tumor took up 75% of her bladder. She was diagnosed in November and on January 15th we pts. She just became too sick. It was one of the toughest decions I ever had to make. (R.I.P ) Noey. This was in 2000.
