I read the story and it was sad. That is why I felt so great saving my two from the pound and Pugs was headed to the pound before I took her in. I understand about how you feel. I never said that I didn't agree with that part. You have valid points. But I just don't think it is right to try and discourage people from wanting what they want. We don't always pick the things we want in life, like cars, homes, jewelry, etc..., by who made them (I know some might) but generally we pick what we like, what appeals to us. A red car, a ranch home, silver instead of gold. If someone wants a puggle or a labradoodle then that is what they want. They are out there and they need homes. Simple as that for me. I know the issues and have read them lots of times on here (I agree with them and see the problem), but you can't change the world overnight. Meanwhile...I can't see hurting someones feelings because of what they prefer or want. To each his own. Please everyone don't start arguing over this. Warm Fuzzies...!!!
It was a good thing that you did. Adopting. People rail at dogs that are popularized because they are the ones most abandoned. Dalmations were bred in mass to respond to a demand from the Disney movie. Chihuahuas were bred in response to demand to Taco Bell Etc...I guess people are noisy/resistant to new trends that they see...to avoid more Sams... It was nothing personal, I bet, if you were attacked for getting a puggle. Like Pavlov. Response to stimuli. You rang a bell and everyone salivated? I confess I have never heard of a puggle, but my sister in law has pugs.
I heard about that whole dalmation craze. Thought it was sad. And don't they say that sometimes Dalmations aren't that great with kids? Well, like I said, I understand the problems and sure wish there was a quick fix. You and others have great points. I just feel so sorry for these dogs. My heart is just too soft. I swear if I had the room and money I would adopt one a week!! lol My family may move out on me, but at least I would have friends!! :0)
Yeah. Dals were not bred to like kids. They were originally bred as a coach dog. To run between the wheels of a horse drawn coach. Theory is they were good as fire coach mascots because many are born deaf, another reason to avoid untested breedings. Chihuahuas were a guard dog, bred to survive in heat with little feeding, they are an alarm bark dog. Not originally bred to be good w/ kids, and they bark...
Interesting. I didn't realize that about the Chi either. Aways open to learning! lol I rarely have any useful info to offer, but I sure like to learn. TP has really helped me to be a better pet owner, that's for sure. I don't think I know what pets you have. Do you have them on dogster?
