Like i dont have enough poblems with Digger and Elie i had to bring home another. I went to the shelter today to drop off some dogfood. They have the cats displayed so nicely when you walk in. Well a little guy caught my eye. I asked if i could see him. I told myself the whole time he would not be going home. After i picked him up and he started purring i couldnt put him down. Well i have him home now and i have a problem i didnt think about. The puppies dont mess with him but Chuckles isnt to happy with me. The new kitten (Miska) has adjusted well and is exploring right now. Chuckles is locked in my bedroom. How do i introduce them without Chuckles attacking Miska? Miska is 4 monthes and was brought in with his mother. He was the only survivng kitten out of his litter. The mother was adopted out and today Miska was scheduled to be put down. He is black with a white belly. The car didnt fase him and he loves to sleep.
I suggest putting the kitten in a crate where it will be safe just in case. Letting them sniff eachother through that for a while, see how they react to that. Keep your kitten locked in your room for a while until you feel they will get along. Then when they do, still when you're not home keep the kitten in your room. Eventually, you will hopefully be able to let the kitten run around in the house and feel okay about it. I have had plenty of situations like that and it worked for me everytime, so hopefully it will work for you too. Congrats! Good luck!
What a terrific story! One way to introduce them without actually introducing them is by rubbing a towel across the others fur and getting a bit of their fur/dander on the towel then just place the towel wherever the other is dwelling at the time. Eventually they will get used to each others scents and hopefully there will be no problems.
Thanks. I put miska in one of the puppys kennels. I let Chuckles out and he went over and sniffed him. Then he reached his paw int he cage and swatted Miska. Miska just sat there. So i let Miska out and Chuckles pinned him to the ground and started cleaning him. Guess i have nothing to worry about. LOL. Miska is so sweet though. He has found the food dish and is stuffing his face right now. Him and Chuckles should get along great.
congratulations on your new addition. it seems like things are off to a good start. whenever i have brought home a new animal i have always just put them all together immediately. kind of like you either sink or swim. luckily mine have always swam. probably not the greatest advice ever but it has always worked out for me.
