Well I am getting my male akita neutered tomarrow. He has papers and so does my female but I just want them as pets(family). I have to calm him down because he is so agessive towards my female. He is only 6 months old and weights 75lbs so he thinks he is too big for his britches. I thought i would just share this will everyone.
Oscar still acts the same. He was a very lazy dog before and he still is. Recovery for males is alot easier than it is for females. Oscar walked a little funny for a few days and he was perfectly normal after that. I wouldn't feed them for a little while after surgery though because they might feel sick to their tummys.
When they lose there man hood they become less aggresive towards animals and humans. That wont change his protective stands on his owners though. It will take about one day for him to start to feel better but in a week will or should be fully recovered. I have a very good vet doing this. My wife said if you go through the city they will pay a good bit of what it cost to get your dog spaded or neutered.
