I just got done updating my Petfinder site, I have been unable to for a few weeks but one of the dogs I defintely had to get on there was Hank, a one year old American Bulldog and he is a lush. I just thought I would share. I took these pictures yesterday when I was at the shelter. I volunteer there. I update the Petfinder site once a week for my shelter. Enjoy http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=3497752
He's a nice looking boy. Is he the same breed as the one that was on Homeward Bound? The one that Michael J. Fox did the voice for. I loved the looks of that dog in the movie, but didn't know what it was. LTLGTO
Hank is a cutie for sure. A big thank you to you for getting him up on your Petfinder site! I hope he finds a great home. For all those that are interested, Chance on Homeward Bound was indeed an American Bulldog. He was bred by Kyle Symmes of Sure Grip Kennels in California. His registered name is Sure Grip's Rattler. He is in the pedigrees of many AB's today (including some of mine) and has taken conformation titles, protection trained and was an excellant hog catcher. An all around great bully! Scout1- I can appreciate a good bulldog whether they are standard or bully (I have a nice standard female who is a pet) but I must say I am partial to the thicker bullier dogs. I don't like extreme bully, but I do like a bully who looks like a bulldog.
Stormywinter.... I'm positive he is an AB. I have shown under Kyle Symmes (his breeder) and have even bred to a son of his a few years ago. He is definitely what AB folks would call a hybrid type. Hybrid type is a mix of Scott or standard type which has finer bone, longer muzzle (more pit like in appearance) and bully/Johnson type, which is the thicker, bullier type of AB. I would be more than happy to give you his breeders info privately if you are interested.
Sorry Stormywinter... I just realized you were talking about the rescue! LOL! The thread had gone a different route, and I thought you were talking about "Chance"! LOL! Hank looks very AB to me, but it could be possible he has a little something else in there... without seeing papers you really never know.
MLS.. not sure the story on Hank, but maybe he changed hands a few times, was a stray, owners didn't or couldn't contact the breeder? Good question though. In my state whenever I have one come to rescue, I always try to hunt down a breeder. Many AB breeders have a distinct type of dog they produce, so often times I can tell by looking who's lines they are from. It is sad to see these guys in rescue, but thankfully Hank seems to have a good temperament, so he has a much better chance in finding his forever home.
I found this little sweetie at one of the shelters. I really want to bring this sweetie home. I keep going back to the page, I'm thinking about calling and asking them if I could foster her. http://www.petfinder.org/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=3461728&adTarget=468petsgeneral&SessionID=416f4bff6e557c66-app5&display=&preview=1&row=0&tmpl=&stat= Itnt she beautifull?
