Hey all! There is a possibility that I may be adding another Great Dane to my posse. I've been in touch with a breeder and there's a small chance there may be a deaf white pup in the litter. If so, that's the one I'm taking. I need some help with a name, please! Something that has to do with white, or being deaf. No rude names, please. So far I've come up with Hush, or Sugar. You guys here have some pretty cool names for your animals, so I figured I'd enlist your help. I like odd ball names as well as regular names. Thanks, guys! Fin
I'm really bad at the whole naming thing. This site (i know its for babies) has the names listed right next to the meanings so you could scroll through them easily. http://www.baby-names-meanings.com/ I'm sure people here will come up with great ones!
I kind of like Melody or Harmony. They are sort of the opposite of being deaf but maybe since she hears nothing, she has her own melody going in in her head? Sorry if that's kind of "out there!" Wait-- Is it a boy or a girl?
Thanks, guys. Wendy, it's just normal ASL that he will be taught. There is no specific hand signal for his name. Just sit, down, etc... The pup will learn more from my other dogs than from me or my husband. The majority of white Danes are culled at birth, and I don't want that to happen, so he will come home with us. Fin
Wendy, ASL stands for American Sign Language. White noise is a good one! LDCR's White Noise. Hmmmm, very nice ring to it. Maybe need another word between LDCR and white. Keep the ideas coming, guys! Fin
LOLOLOL!! Wendy, sorry, that's my fault! When it came time to giving our Danes their registered names, we had a he** of a time trying to pick the first part of their names. The road we live on is Little Deer Creek Road. Shortened, it's LDCR. Since the Danes live on LDCR, too, that's what we chose as the first part of their name. Sooo... Horatio's registered name is- LDCR's Iron Man Trinity's- LDCR's Between Heaven and Hell LOL! Sorry again! Fin
Cat Lover, I am laughing again, but seriously. I mean will he be able to bark at all? I know deaf people that can speak. Not as well as we do, but can speak some. You know I am very proud of my "Blondest Poster" award. Hee Hee!!! I wear it well, huh?
OMG, Wendy!!! That's it! LDCR's Silent White Noise Adley, I lOVE Ice!!! LDCR's Silent White Noise Call name- Ice You guys are AWESOME!!! Can't wait to tell hubby! LOL! Not sure if the pup will be mute, but there is a good possibility that the pup will have limited vision and end up blind over time. They normally can't tell until the pups are 6 weeks old. Sad, isn't it? Fin
I own a white APBT named Pinky and she is deaf as well. But you would never know she has a disability she is so intelligent and such a love bug! She knows over 26 hand signals and tricks. Her favorite is thumb to nose which means TREAT!! How about...Aurora or Sky
