car 54? one of our favorite shows. gunther toody. ooh!ooh! i got up at 6am and watched the first space liftoff, alan shepherd; and later john glenn. and now i tell my daughter about the good old days before microwaves were invented.
ltlgto..............The bike I have is a Schwinn Breeze. The friend that sent me this link is a new friend. She came to my house with another friend to look at one of my Maltese puppies. We started talking and a frendship developed instantly. She visits this forum from time to time. She is very ill right now, but I have never met a more positive person. If you see this "Nina," thank you.
I remember most of the stuff, not all of it. Born in 01/67. I had a red schwin, and I remember the banana seats. I also remember the wax soda bottles with the drink inside. I took my kids to California in July and we found some at Legoland. They had no clue what they were, but I bought some. Does anyone remember when they came out with that candy in a little plastic trashcan? The candy was all shaped like bones and stuff you find in the trash? I loved that. I wish they still made it, I know my son would love it!
Gina...there were fish bones and dog bones...I remember that! Do you remember the big plastic tooth that opened up and had gum in it?? Those were cool! Who had the yellow lemon on the black loop that you swung around on your foot and jumped over the lemon? What was it called? I know they made a knock off a few years ago but wasn't the same. Strings on cans and using them as stilts??
Cute story....Does anyone remember Mrs Beasely? I was born blind in one eye and had surgery when I was four. I hated my glasses. But, anyway, when I had surgery they let me take my Mrs. Beasely doll with me into the surgery room. I remember the mask, falling asleep, then waking up in my room. I looked in my arms and Mrs Beasley had a patched eye just like me and her glasses were on the table laying right next to mine!! I remember it like it was yesterday!!!
MyPoundPuggle....................Sure, I remember Mrs. Beasley and "Family Affair." Did you see the episode where Mrs. Beasley was missing? There always seems to be a memory such as the one you described that stay with us forever. My son had eye surgery when he was real young and he had real leather chaps, vests, cowboy boots, the whole nine yards. He kept the boots on during the surgery, and the rest was lying beside him when he woke up in recovery. I saved all of that stuff for him.
Aww....I wish I had my doll. I think I will buy one from Ebay! lol Speaking of things moms keep though, I just found my baby doll cradle at my mom's yesterday, I had no idea she had kept it....almost 30 years old now! lol
MPP, I had one of those lemon things too. I loved it. I can't remember what it was called but you're right they did try to remake it, but it wasn't the same! I remember Mrs. Beasley too. I don't remember the tooth/gum thing though. I want a trash can candy!
LOL gina !! thsat is exactly what i say.the only thing i fins that tastes the same are the swedish fish. i loved them as a kid. i don't know where they came up with all these new colors for them. the reds are still the best. at a corner mom and pop store i used to get a handful for a penny.
nope gina they are still called swedish fish. they are a gummy type candy that is shaped like a fish and they are sooo good. but when i was little they only came in red. now they come in all different colors . the colored ones don't taste as good as the red ones !
