I applied to nursing school and just recently learned that I got accepted! I start in January of 2005..Heres my question: My little westie, Baxter, is used to me being at home all day...How do I get him used to the idea that I am going to be gone for the morning hours of each day without it being a shock to him? Any suggestions please! Thanks again guys! Charlotte
Start by leaving him alone an hour at a time and slowly increase the length of time. I do not think you should crate him if you can trust him. If it is possible for someone to let him out during the day at least once then all should be fine.
No problem. If it is only 3-4 hours it should be no problem. You just have to start trusting him so by leaving a little bit at a time you should get a feel of what they can get into. Make sure anything you don't want chewed goes away. (like shoes - trust me i've lost a couple while at home!) He may start showing some signs of distress by being bad but you have time to work on him so I think by the time you start school all should be fine. BTW Congrats: Will keep that in mind for medical questions. lol
