Hi Scout, you always give me such good advice and since we have alot in common thought i would direct this ? to you. (since you really dont work........lol) BTW when i was shopping for a leash the other day the brand name on the leash was SCOUT and thought of this site..........LOL.... OK Anywayz....My first born here, Buga the cat, who we know has Herpes and is more likely to get upset and sick and whatnot.....anyway kitty No. 2, Nemo came along about 2 months ago gave him a URI .........OK we got that fixed. But now Buga throws up after he eats sometimes, he never did this b4 and i wonder if he is overeating because of Nemo or if the kitty food he gets into sometimes makes him sick. I have my new Pomeranian coming today and I am afraid things will get worse for my BUGA. Did i get in over my head with furr babies? Although Nemo is fine, he took on the ALPHA role, Nemo walks all over Buga, Buga has once never hissed or made any strong moves toward Nemo. So what is up with BUGA NOW? How do you cats and pom get along?? Thanks Scout.......
Hello, I know that you directed this to Scout but I thought I would put my two cents in here as well. I have three cats, and three Poms. First of all, with Buga(sp?) have you tried a sensitive stomach cat food? My cat Tiocy, who is 8 had to be on that for a while, now she is on Purina Vitality, which is made for older cats. As far as who has alpha, pretty much leave that up to the cats to decide. We had wanted it one way in our house and they decided differently. Introduce the pom as you would any other dog, start in a seperate room or especially with a pup, just put the pup in a crate and let teh cats come up and investigate. Don't try to rush anyone. My newest cat, Mercedes still could care less for either of the other cats or any of the dogs. Tiocy, still maintains her role of top cat and hates all of the other animals I have brought here, but she deals with it. My other cat, Asha, loves everyone. Just start out slow and don't rush anyone. Let Buga have her own space and don't worry if she likes your pup or not. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
jeezy sorry for the delay in the answer but today was one of the days i actually had to work lol. i'm sorry , but i don't have a pom. sorry if i said something that lead you to believe i did. as far as buga's vomiting it could be due to the reasons you stated. he could be eating faster to make sure he gets his fair share of the food now that he has competition. generally kitten food won't make an adult cat sick, it will just make them fat. i don't remember how old buga is but i would be careful how much kitten food he eats if he is an older cat because the higher protein in kitten food can lead to kidney damage in an older cat. given his medical history when you make an appt. to have the vet check out your neww puupy ask them if you can bring buga in and have him checked also. as far as how nemo and buga get along, let them work it out. if nemo is being a pest, buga will let him know about it. as far as introducing the new pup to the cats a crate is an excellent idea, or having the pup on a leash. all puppies no matter the breed love to chase cats and be generally very annoying to cats. cats and dogs have very different body languages and what appears to a puppy as a play invitation, to a cat it is a warning to stay away. they will all work out their places in the house. if your new pup gets out of hand, no doubt one of the cats will set him/her straight. many dogs and cats of the same size will find each other wonderful playmates. it may stress out both buga and nemo in the beggining but it will even out. good luck with your new pup. i can't wait to see pic's of him/her.
Katz, thanks so much!! Scout thanks too!!! I need someone i can talk Pom with. How old are yours? What weight are they? Mine is going to be smaller than i wanted........ :( And thanks for the kitty advice!! well be ready for lots of posts here, with new baby aboard.........LOL
