innove, which we 'serve for the ultimate doggie dining experience' ha ha has a new food, innova evo. for when you would like to feed raw but cant (time, $$$, whatever.) the ingredients read similar to innova dry, except no grain. anyone have insight, opinions, etc? here's the link: http://www.naturapet.com/display.php?d=product-detail&pxsl=//product[@id='1246'] thanks!
what i am wondering is, it says a great addition to a raw diet. so i am assuming it can be used on its own or in addition to a raw diet? the regular innova is about $21 for a 20 lb bag. i feed two 14 lb dogs, so that lasts me 2+ mos. for a st bernard puppy- yikes! i am still a good 3-4 weeks from needing a bag of food. plus, my store does buy 7 get one free. which takes a while, but i use innova cat food too, so it adds up.
comparing ingredients it seems to me to be equal to wellness, natural balnace and evolve dog foods. i don't think it is equal to feeding a raw diet. the wholepurpose i think of feeding raw is to eliminate the chemicals and processing of foods that tends to minimuze the benefits of the ingredients.
scout- it seems to be innova without the grains. but if you read the regular innova, it says how they use whole grains to be nutritous and beneficial for your dog. my question is this- is it worth switching to this (EVO) from regular just to cut out the grains in their food?
Eskie - We also serve Innova - and Duncan does very well on it. My question is, why consider switching? You are feeding your babies a very good food, so as long as they are doing well on it, I think I would leave well enough alone. That is just my thought.
tara- the reason being, you hear so much about how raw is better, and if the evo was closer to raw, and therefore better for them...that was what i was wondering. but they are so so similar it barely seems worth it.
I would agree - I would really be interested in the price for this new food. The bag sizes are even smaller than the current bags. I pay around $20 for a 16lb bag now. Fortunately, like you, I am feeding a small dog (only one though), so a big bag lasts me for almost 2 months. I can't imagine what it would cost to feed a St. Bernard. WOW.
tara- we pay a little more- about $21 for 20 lbs, but again, it lasts 2+ mos. the only store to carry it is out of the way, so i only go there when i need cat or dog food, or am looking for a specialty thing that petsmart doesnt sell, as they do special orders. so i'll have to check next time i get over that-a-way. if you do the sompare ingredients on www.naturapet.com, for evo and the dry, they are almost identical. it says evo uses fruits and veggies though. we'll have to see.
My Saint Baby eats around 7-8 cups a day, plus whatever the kids feed her. Just let food go near her face and Molly's got it! But she is a growing baby. 69lbs at 6 months. Her dad is 180lbs and mom is 145lbs. I do like to feed my dogs the best I can.
