Minniyar, it's kind of a fun game, but it is sooooo....... slow, and I'm on highspeed. I can imagine what it woud be like for people on dial-up. I have four dogs in my kennel. I just bought an 11 day old last night. I have an Irish Terrier in Flyball, a whippet in Racing, a Vizsla in Tracking, and the one I got last night is a terrier (sorry, can't remember what kind) that will be in Racing or Frisbee. I changed jobs from shop owner (1st level) to competitor as soon as I could. Need those extra points for competition. How can I look up your dogs for sale. Are you quitting the game, or just cleaning out and starting again? ltlgto
I know what you mean on the slow site! I have high speed cable and it's slow for me too (not so bad before like 3pm EST though). I rescued the Irish Setter from the humane society, I have a big kennel (I can have up to 10 dogs). One afghan I bred, so he's just a 1 day old puppy. If he was a female I'd keep him but he's a male, so if I can find a good buyer for him I'd like to find a good 'home' for him on the game. I just really don't need 3 afghan males and 1 female hehe. His stats are better than the 'pet store' dogs, and he's only 1 day old so that's plenty of time to get him lots of good stats by feeding food to boost his stats and training him every day. The pharaoh hound, well I bought him on a whim cause I have a friend who is the biggest pharaoh hound shower in the game. But I'd prefer to concentrate on just 3 breeds, afghans, akitas and briards. I'll keep the dogs up for private sales, if someone wants them and will be good to them, great, if not that's fine too I'll just keep showing them and training them to up their levels and stats. The Irish setter and pharaoh hound are 'double trained' and can enter two types of show events, which is kinda cool. They also have pretty good stats too, since they're higher level. You can look up the dogs using the 'search' function, their names are 'Darksteel Ingot' 'Red Dawn' and 'Outrider'.
I have 3 Newfoundlands. 2 males and 1 female. I am still learning the game but it gets frustrating with the lag. How do you get them "double trained"? I have only been on for 9 days so my dogs have a long way to go but they are happy dogs.
Players who are 'professional trainers' can double train your dog. It's kind of tricky. Basically you sell them your dog via private bid for $0. They bid on it, and you approve the sale and then they buy it. Then they train it at the training place, then you buy it back for the $3000 cost of training + an additional fee for the trainer's trouble. Generally it costs between $3500 to $4000 total to double train a dog. If you go to the chat board 'advertisements' people who can double train will advertise there. Send them a msg and arrange it. Be aware that it may take 1 or two days to get everything done, unless you both happen to be online at the exact same time. That's from the 'buying/selling the dog back and forth' time delays.
Wow. I knew there were tricks to this game that I needed to learn. I have a friend who is a trainer but is at the beginner level. I guess I will wait for him to get to professional and do what you just said. We have been working together on some things like breeding. I bred my Newfies and got a male to sell him in exchange for his Briard pup. So basically you need friends in high places huh?
Hey guys this seems very interesting, and I am itching to try it out.... Im signing up and it says to put a fellow players # whom reffered you and since I heard you two talking about it i figured I would put one of you if you feel like giving out your player#. I figure you could get some credit for something...
oh and to warn you msquires, the lag on that site is absolutely horrific after about 3pm EST when all the high school kids start getting home from school. It's hard to get anything done at all between 3pm and 10-11pm EST on weekedays. Your best bet is to do it mornings, early afternoons. The point is to get a dog, feed it, train it, play with it (feeding it different foods can increase its stats) and enter it in as many shows as you can once the dog is trained in a 'show' type. The dogs gain levels by being in shows and get more stats and experience.
Thanks for the tips.... Im just going around the site and getting the hang of it. Im at work all day, so I will try to stay off after 3 and do it in the morning! Anything else I should know? Easiest breeds to show etc?
Hah well there's no 'easiest' breed. I personally like to go with less popular breeds, which is why I Have afghans, Akitas, and briards. Every breed has strenghts and weaknesses, you shoudl train your dog in something that it's best stats are geared toward. For example, working dogs like akitas, newfs, etc have their best stats in intelligence, strength and stamina. So if you tried to enter them in Agility or Flyball, they won't do very good because those events go off of Agility and Speed. It is possible to use food to raise a dog's 'weaker' stats, but when they level, dogs usually get the most increases in the stats that are best for their breed/group. There's a huge list of breeds available that is missing some strange 'real' breeds, like welsh springer spaniels and scottish deerhounds. It hasa few weird or almost unheard of breeds like dutch smoushound and saarloos wolfhounds. Go figure. I had to 'google' those breeds they're so obscure. IMHO the most fun thing to do is to pick a breed that you might never get a chance to own real life and go with that, thats how i got my afghans. If you sign up and decide you want an irish setter or a pharoah hound, I can sell you one that's got a few levels, good stats and double training for a decent price.
Good advise..... im still trying to learn what to do at this point! Thanks alot for the info though and i will diffinatly keep you in mind for a setter... do i just search for you under your player #? Thats what im asuming...
everyone is free ot use me as a reference! If you go to the 'search' function, you can look up dogs or you can look up players. You can divide the dogs by breed, sex, level, and even age. If you are getting a level 1 dog and it is more than 15 or 20 days old, save your money and buy one from the pet store. the stats will be similar and the pet store dog will have more time to advance. Public sales mean if the dog is for sale and you pay the money you get the dog. PRivate sales are like what respnsible breeders do.... even if someone has the money the breeder still may not sell. If you know a dog's name, like my irish setter for sale is named 'Red Dawn' and my pharaoh hound is named 'outrider' you can look up the dog's name in the search thing. Down at the bottomyou will see the price of the dogs sale and what the minimum 'bid' is.
Oh yes, for those who have had problems with the lag on the furrypaws site.. For some reason, internet explorer hates this game. Especially as more people get online. I started using another internet browser just to do furrypaws with, called mozilla. It's basically the new and improved netscape browser, you can download it at www.mozilla.com. You can even open multiple browsing windows tabs without having actually open multiple instances of Mozilla. It's really cool and for some reason it digests the info on furrypaws way better than IE. I still use IE but I highly recommend this browser. It makes it way way easier to move around on the game. It's still lagged, but at least I don't get an error msg every 10 seconds.
i gave up. i could barely do 1 thing on there without being sorta like kicked off. my poor dog is probably dead now cause i only got to feed him once like 3 weeks ago.i am on dial up but i may look into dsl or cable soon so maybe i will go back then.
