Scout, LOSE THE DIAL-UP!!!!!! lol. sorry for caps but I had to shout it out to ya. I cannot imagine the lag on the dial-up. I have DSL and normally pages pop up immediately but this site takes a little longer, almost like going back to the dial-up. DSL and cable are about the same speed depending on your computer, the only diff. is the price, cable is double DSL in my area. Minniyar, My player # is 73808. (feel free to clean out the doghouse and throw things my way) LOL How do you add people to your friends list? I only have the 1 friend in there right now but dont know how to find him unless we are both on messenger at same time. BTW......anyone feel free to use me as a reference even though I haven't a clue what is going on in there yet. LOL
HEY GBAT OKAY !! hee hee couldn't resist. yes i am going to lose the dial up. for many reasons, one being no one can reach me anymore cause i can't use the phone while i am on the computer. i haven't researched prices yet. so now my husband will be doubly mad at me because i will be able to talk on the phone and be on the computer at the same time. poor guy puts up with so much. but then again, so do i.
One suggestion I have would be to buy a dog on public sale. You can get them cheaper and usually with better stats than the pet shop dogs. You can't enter shows until you have vaccines, and trained for a particular event. There is a good FAQ with some information at: http://www.furry-paws.com/post.php?postid=66368 (hopefully that works) Go to the atlas, click on shows (the tent), and at the bottom their is a link to tell you what types of competition needs what stats. I think the link says show stats. Go to the help section. There is some good info on there. Hope this helps! My number is #72174 Kandy Kennels!
Actually ltlgto, iwth the number of people who arebreeding level 1 dogs to each other, sometimes the pet store dogs actually are better.. and that's scary. If you buy a public sale dog, check the parents and make sure both dogs parents aren't level 1s. If the dog's highest stat is only 17, then it's a poorly bred dog. Especially if the dog is more than 20 days old, that's just sorry. msquires, if you haven't done so, buy a tennis ball and a yellow rubber ball to play with your dogs. Forget the other toys until you get more money. Every single dog on the game likes either one or the other of those two toys, and it makes your dog happier, happier dogs = better show dogs. Also, when you take a job at the employment office, be a 'competitor'. This will make your dogs do way better in dog shows and advance faster. If you go to the 'chat' section and then to the 'help' boards, there's tons of great tips and information on starting out. I strongly recommend you pay attention to the stats that a good collar will give, and I always feed my dogs canned food, it's more expensive but it seems like there's a greater chance of my dog gaining a stat from it. The only dry foods I feed are lacrima beef for str, and lacrima biscuits for agility boosts. Oh yeah, the base game 'store', not the player run ones, restocks every half an hour, so like at 10, 1030,11, 1130, etc. If you can't find what you are looking for at the store, wait till the top or bottom of the hour to make that purchase. Many player store vendors really jack up the prices on stuff and will rob you blind.
If you go to the 'marketplace' you can buy food, collars and toys for your dog. Go to the chat 'help' boards fora whole list of what each collar/foood will add to your dogs stats. You can feed each dog up to 3 times a day, each time you feed it you get a random chance of getting a stat boost.
They have lots of cool ways to earn money too. Besides a job, you can play games and also when I entered my pup inot a show I found 500 something dollars on the floor ;) Nikki LOL right after I posted I logged into the site and found another $186 on the floor.. woo hoo ;)
Oh and Ive only bred dogs 2 times on the game. The thing is this, if you are not at least an 'experienced breeder' (the second level of training for breeders, you really shouldn't breed your dog and here's why. If you are an experienced breeder and you breed your dogs, the resulting puppy will get 2 stats that are boosted. Anyone else who breeds, be they a veterinarian or trainer or whatever, only gets 1 boost. And you want the best stat boost possible. The higher level the dogs being bred, the better the stat boost will be. If you breed two level 1 dogs, even if you are a master breeder the stats on the dogs will still suck. If you breed two level 10 dogs though, two stats will get +10. Breeding two level 15 dogs, two stats will get +15.. This is why it is so important to enter your dogs in shows and get some levels before breeding. It seems like level 8 is the absolute minimum for breeding, and many people won't even acccept breeding requsts until the dogs are level 10. If you look at your male dog ,you will see an option for 'make breeding request'. I think this is how you breed two dogs, I used other peoples studs when I bred, which is a little more complex.
Your # will show up when you look at your kennel. Or you can look up your name in the 'search' function and pick yourself out among the other names. There should be a 'drop down' menu to choose what show you train your dogs in. Agility is the first listed, but its not what you have to train your dog in. If you've already trained your dog in agility, then that'st he only shows he can be entered into. When you look at your dog's name, if it says NA Bootsy, then your dog is named Bootsy and he's a novice titled dog trianed in agility. Don't worry, even if your dogs agility stats suck you can feed them dog food that gives boosts in agility to average it out. It'll take more work but it *is* possible. it's also confusing because you can take your dog to a training place and give it a generic workout, regardless of what its training is.. that's the long grey building that says TA on it... and you have to train it one time in a 'show', that's the little TF building on the atlas. The difference is, the TF building will cost you $3000. The TA building has a ton of player training areas that vary wildly in price from $15 to $1500. I think anything under $50 is good.
Oh hey there is an actual chat room on the game... There's usually people in the room so I guess if you havea question in game that needs answered, go there. Or post on the help boards, people answer those really fast.
