I noticed this afternoon that my new foster pups all have a couple of ringworms. I have used Tinactin before when Punkin and Bluebelle had ringworm ( Im pretty sure they got it from a stray cat ) anyhow it wasn't very effective anyone know of any thing that works well and is safe to use on 7 week old puppies?
Call Foster & Smith, they are open 24/7. They won't give vet advice...just ask them if they have a product to treat it. Then (no fair, but you don't want to wait and catch the dang stuff yourself) go get it at the pet store, or ask what is in it and go to the pharmacy. Yuck, good luck. They can get it from kids that pet them too, I bet... FS-1-800-826-7206
Yes, ringworm is definitely Yuck! When Bluebelle and Punkin got it I got it to. The vet prescribed some cream for them but really they showed no improvement from it $45 later so I bought the Tinactin for me and used it on them to it actually helped more than the expensive cream the vet prescribed. But with the puppies Im a little afraid to use it.
Oh, silly me. I'm on the way to the petstore to get this week's food. I'll check for you. I'm just lazy now, but if some genius like hoosgow doesn't solve this by the time I get back, I will look in my extensive medical library here. Have answer by 11pm pacific time...
"I will look in my extensive medical library here. Have answer by 11pm pacific time..." LOL...Thanks Kitty IM not sure if you were being sarcastic or not. I do appreciate your taking the time to help me out.
No answer yet? I just checked back. That was a good idea about calling and then going to get it somewhere else. I wouldn't want to wait either. Well, pacific time, 11pm would be another 1 hour 45 minutes. Lets see if she finds something! Have a good day! Sorry. No, despite my sense of humor I was serious... Unfortunatly the pet store took up all the extra time. They have nothing for ringworm, lest I forget. The food prices...I can't say how many dogs I pay to feed...then bozo the cashier did not ring in the little $8 discount. I went to a market after...it was a lot longer than I usually take to shop because it seemed at every turn, I needed "help" that I had to wait for. When I got home, my mom had left 4 messages...made pointed comments about my niece and the lady she worked for spending so much time on the computer that they don't even do their housework, or anything else in their day...well, now I am yours. Everyone else was dealt w/ but you were never off my mind. Next post...ringworm.
OK, Again, I apoligise. The Labs are so hating the now(thought the weekend rain was bad) 1st major storm of the year. 3in w/ hi wind pred tonite. The mud in my yard is now about 6in. deep. Potty breaks are very hands on as I need no accidents, coming, or going. Compared to Easterners, I know I'm a huge wussie. I hope D rose did not drown. RW is a fungal disease. 2 kinds, microsporum, and/trichophyton. Very contagious. These fungi grow outside during the late fall& into winter. Animals become infected by contacting affected animals or property. Wild animals & cats carry it. Several ways to treat: 1/daily topical application of miconazole 2%. 2/ Oral, my idea... check w/ vet...metronidazole. Now, I think you should call Revival animal health in the morn...The entire property should go through a fungus proofing...if bleach does not work use Lysol IE hospital strength... revivalanimal.com...1-800-786-4751 Gotta eat breakfast now...good luck.
