The other night we has some pretty bad storms going through missouri with a lot of thunder. The problem I have encountered in recent storms is that my chi freaks out. He just recently, the last 4 months, started whimpering and pacing the bed at night. He is 5 and a half year old. I try to pet him and calm him down but the only thing I have found out that helps is if I move from my bed to the couch in the family room. He will still move around a little bit but not enough to keep me from an uncomfortable sleep. On these nights me and my boyfriend feel like we have an infant and we take turns sleeping on the couch with him. Does anyone have any ideas how I can help him through this and still get my sleep? Thanks for any advice!
I tried to put him under the covers but he tries to claw his way out. I have tried to be stern with him and he'll lay down for a minute and then as soon as the thunder claps again he's off pacing. I tried putting him in his cage but he starts whining loudly and barking, I would leave him in there to train him but I live in an apartment and my neighbors wouldnt be too happy. It is really weird because he just started doing this. Anyway thanks!
