Hi everyone. I've been breeding obedience Bouvier des Flandres and Basset Hounds for about 5 years. I've finally decided I should get a kennel name for my kennel. My first Bouvier's name was Luca, she was the best dog I've ever owned. I'm looking to name the kennel after her, but can't think of a creative enought name. I've thought of Lucaspride or Talluca, but would like to hear some different ideas, if anyone can help, I'd be glad to hear from you. Thanks
Took me 20 years before I found one that suited me. Everyone had outdoorsy names like willowbrook, coldcreek etc. I settled on Solid Image...was different. AKC will protect it from use in their pedigrees for a small fee. They give you 3 years or so exclusive use of the name, and 1st crack at renewal.
i just love bouviers. i have never owned one but i pet sat for one and he was just the best dog. i would love for you to explain all about their temperaments. i would like to have one day. sorry i can't help you with a name. i am not creative that way.
I know the people who own the Bouvier de Flandres kennel Cornus Kennels in Montgomery Alabama. They always bring their bouvs to the MKC meetings, and their dogs are very very nice. They shed like crazy. All are herding tested and friendly with strangers and around other dogs. Since they're the only people I know who own Bouvs I have no idea if the friendly temperament is normal or if their dogs are exceptional in thaat regard. They do need grooming though, I guess kinda like a schnauzer does. AFter their dogs get their Ch titles, they get shaved down during summer instead of keeping their thick coats all the time.
golucago, I looked up the meaning of Luca for you. Luca - Italian - means Bringer of Light there is also a Saint Luca Hope this gives you some ideas. Maybe something to do with light would be the way to go. ltlgto
Little Luca Kennels?? Cabo San Luca Kennels??? Luca Me Kennels?? (Look at me Kennels) Luca (your last name) Kennels??? We have finally decided on our kennel name. . . It will be Little Bear Kennels and we decided that because all of my dogs have names that their meanings have to do with bears. . . Sulah - Pomeranian - Little bear by the water Kenai - Pomeranian - Little Bear Naku who is a Japanese Spitz(just a pet) means Great White bear and Koda, who we no longer own, he was a golden retriever/chow mix, and his name means bear. We are hoping to be getting a little red female Pomeranian soon and so her name will also have some sort of bear meaning. Anyway, hope this helps!
Thanks everyone so much for all the help. I was very surprised to see all the helpful replies, and quite a selection of suggestions to think of. So thanks to all! In regards to the question about Bouvier temperaments, and the one post in reply. I must say it greatly depends on what the specific dog has been bred for. There tends to be a big difference between the show and working lines, however, that is too big of an issue to go into here. The Bouvier in general is a friendly dog, very patient with children, and intelligent as well. However, they tend not to demand attention as much as some other breeds. Such as the Basset Hounds, who insist laps are for sitting on, hands are for petting/giving treats 24/7. The comment about shedding is interesting. Bouviers are known not to shed, as the hair is curly, and tends to stay in the coat and mat. It therefore must be brushed out rather than fall out. Some dogs can be shaved down in the summer, but many Bouviers are kept in pet clips which keeps the beauty of the show clip, and modifies it into a trim that requires minimum maintenance. Well, thanks again for all the suggestions!
My kennel name was actually a joke to begin with, my family raises horses and my older brother thought I was so silly about the way I acted about my dogs (he's not a dog person) My nickname has always been prissy since I was like 8, my bro. called me that after watching Gone with the Wind. I was getting an order from PetEdge and my bro. called and said on my machine, Prissy's Pooches your order has arrived! From there on I started calling us Prissys Pooches, I love it! It really fits me and my dogs, When I tell people who i've known a while they really love it and says it fits me... Pick a name you will love I think something with rememberance in you dog would be wonderful.
