HI. I HAVE A NEW PUPPY 7 WEEKS OLD. HE IS CONSTANTLY NIPPING AT MY PANT LEG EVERY TIME I WALK I TELL HIM NO BUT HE KEEPS COMING BACK ANY SUGGESTION?ALSO EVERY MORNIN WHEN HE WAKES UP I TAKE HIM OUTSIDE AND HE GOES TO THE BATHROOM THEN WITH IN FIFTEEN MINUTES HE GOES AGAIN IN THE HOUSE.ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED THANKS JOE
Be firm when you walk him. Do not every play with him when he's on leash. Tell him NO and "go pee". Have some treats with you to reward him when he pees. Make him walk until he pees a couple of times if he goes in the house right away and then when you bring him in, only give him about a half hour of play time before you crate him until the next walk. Make it really enjoyable playtime, tire him out and let him rest for about an hour in the crate until you walk him again. As he gets older, you dont have to take him out as much. By the way, is there a story behind your screen name?
Don't forget that the puppy is only 7 weeks old and is really just a baby. My pup is 5 months old and still tries to get away with nipping. For the longest time she responded to only "NO" haha We got Aisha at 6 weeks. The truth is that we took them away from their littermates a little early. They are just now starting to explore and really taste things. They are like 6 month old babies with everything in their mouths. Just be consistent in the "NO BITE" and stick a chew toy in it's mouth instead and then praise and say good! It takes a while months sometimes because it is all about play and exploring for them. As far as the peeing in the house right after you take him out.... give more time outside to make sure that he has completely finished doing his business inside. At this age they need to pee all the time. Keep him on a schedule. First thing in the morning, right after he eats, right before he plays and right after before he takes a nap and right after. When they are awake they probably need to go out every 1/2hr. to 45 min. It gets easier. And when you take him out always use the same phrase. I use "go do pee pee" and when done I would praise praise praise!!!!! Now she goes to the front door and barks, when I ask if she has to go pee she wags her tail and bolts out the door to go. The key is consistency! Good luck
