How old are the kittens? Your best bet, if they're old enough, is to just put some warm water in the dry food at first. I find that milk gives cats diarrhea, have you noticed that?

Just watch it then for a couple of days, and if it grows in size or starts weeping, or she's licking and scratching it, take her in. It sounds like a bruise though.

I would still take your dog to the vet, to make sure she does'nt have mange. It also sounds like an allergy that can also be caused by her food. What are you feeding your dog?

blondoverblue, you did'nt say exactly when you noticed the spot, how long has your little dog had it? If it is a bruise the colour of it should be changing, or fading. If in doubt take the wee girl to the vet.
