I agree. the dog just seemed like it was scared. No reason to punish it. you should never startle a dog awake because they will generally show a fear reaction....growling, biting. I only punish a dog if it bites mor...

I never use retractable leashes. They are not safe, and they also teach dogs to pull. I use nice, normal 6 foot leashes, and only walk dogs wearing nylon harnesses with an O ring in the front. I attach the leash to that in the case of problem dogs. T...

I had a rescue dog not so long ago that I had to let outside every 5 to 15 minutes every day for 2 weeks. He eventually potty trained himself.

Quite honestly, you will probably never train her not to chase cats or chickens. A dog that chases them is NEVER safe to be around them. If she is allowed to continue to be around either she may very likely kill your cat and chickens. :(
