I don't think dog food cured hot spots. Hot spots are rapidly appearing, oozing, skin infections. They are caused by exsesive licking and moisture of the skin, bacteria likes moist areas.

My cousin fed Hector gravy train (not a good food).
And many people I know feed their dogs he Kirkland food.
