Yes it may be a scam. However it normally it not as much a chance when you call and talk with them, but it still happens. How long ago did you send the deposit? Do they live in an area that has been hit by some of these snow storms?

That preticular behavior is very common in predators. You woke her out of a dead sleep she reacted to defend herself before her mind finished waking up and cought up with her situation....
