Is it some form of Herpes? I know that, at least in cats, that Herpes can attack and basically eat away at the eyes.

Maybe you can ask your friend to call the vet to get the spelling of whatever it is that her dog has?...

I'm pretty sure that your rabbit would be displaying symptoms, like loose stools, etc.

If there's any doubt though, never hesitate to talk with your vet.
