Try learning Clicker Training. It is very easy and effective, you will both start bonding within a few weeks of starting it.

Not really, I don't believe a vet would do that to a bird, but all it takes is one phone call to a vet to find out.

Separating love birds would only put them through more stress than re-homing them as they mate for life.
