You said he came from Petland, so you do know he came from a puppy mill to start with. Most people looking for a stud will run in the other direction when they see this.

Most breeders have a reason for using limited registration. If she has such a flaw or genetic defect that shouldn't be reproduced then I would leave well enough alone. If you want to breed you should only start with the best, not a pet on limit...

Have your vet draw blood and send it in to their lab, it's a sure way to tell if he is affected or a carrier.
