My recommendation would be to get an adult dog from rescue or SPCA that is already housetrained because puppies can not hold it for that long.

Have you checked shelters, rescues and SPCA's in your area for small dogs/puppies?
Because having known some Bull Terriers, both well bred and BYB ...
