I think if you want to have a back up for fleas and for ticks its a great choice, but one thing, the ticks still gorge on your dog,, so your dog is still at risk for Lyme disease.

I think the best way is to feed the P/D, give him as much as he can eat. Feed a few meals during the day. You should aim for a healthy weight, not over weight -right?

You should sit in one of the classes, the puppy classes you will get more out of it then a personal trainer. You need the other puppies to socialize with. The only time I wouldn't take the class is if the trainer is useing harsh techniques.

An hour is a long time, some times when its really hot and I walk the dogs (Frenchies) I would wipe them down or put them in a luke warm bath, getting them wet is an easy way to let them cool down.Try it. Sue

What is the relationship like between the girlfriend and the dog?
Dogs don't have the ability to feel Jelousy, it would be more of a disruption in his routine for example.

Perhaps he has found that crying has gotten him alot of attention, so hopefully the new owners are not going to baby him :(
